All Time Christmas Movie Favourites

Nothing gives you that heart-warming Christmassy feeling quite like a good old Christmas movie. Getting curled up in front of the fire with a mug of hot chocolate can be the best way to spend a cold winter evening. Add to this a fantastic festive film and it’s perfect! There are the classics which come around every year and Christmas wouldn’t be the same without them. It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas are perennial top picks for a weekend afternoon viewing in December!

Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, first published in 1843, has been adapted time and time again for theatre, film and television. It is one of the most widely acknowledged Christmas stories of all time. The earliest screen adaptation dates back to 1901 with the most popular versions including Scrooge starring Alastair Sim and more recently The Muppets Christmas Carol which has become a family favourite!

There’s something about a Christmas film that can instantly lift your mood.  Ranging from the traditional to the more modern but still ever popular efforts such as Nativity, Jingle all the way and The Nightmare Before Christmas to name but a few!

Now although the majority of Christmas films do include a theme or overall premise thereof , there are those films which always bring about memories of Christmas and are always shown during the festive period  but have very little connotation towards Christmas itself. We can’t discuss our favourite seasonal movies without mentioning The Sound of Music, Love actually, Wallace and Gromit and Die Hard!
