Are you around London for Christmas time? Many venues in London are guaranteed to have something special planned this year, so get all the family involved and enjoy the festivities! Harrods – Christmas Grotto

Harrods are opening their Christmas Grotto again this year – a truly magical way to start off your Christmas. Creating memories for the children that will last a lifetime, in what is bound to be the most extravagant, Christmassy settings. There are many different booking options and packages to suit different requirements and budgets such as ‘tea-time visit’, ‘pre-schooler visit’ and ‘classic visit’, also featuring the ‘grotto café visit’ which is new for 2015! Prices range from £10 to anything up to £42. Whichever package you decide to choose, it is bound to be an incredible family day out.

See below for the opening dates and times for the Christmas Grotto this year. :

Friday 6th November – Thursday 24th December 2015

Mon – Sat: 10am – 8:30pm, Sun: 11:30am – 5:30pm

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve): 10am – 3:30pm 

 
Bookings will commence online from 14th September, so get in there early to avoid disappointment. 

Already available to order on the website and in store are many Christmas items and decorations such as stockings, baubles and other tree decorations…

Also keep an eye out new for 2015, Benedict Bear is available from Harrods, a special addition to celebrate Harrods 30th Anniversary. A cute cuddly friend with super-soft cream fur, dressed in his lovely red knitted cardigan, he’s back from his travels and could go home with your family this Christmas and celebrate the festive season with you!

 

Other Venues featuring a Santa’s Grotto 2015

Some of the other great London stores also offer Santa’s Grotto throughout the festive season this year. The tradition of taking the children to see the big man in red is such a memorable and magical experience for them, telling them what they are wishing for this Christmas and even maybe receiving their own small gift to take home!

Selfridges – Traditional Santa's Christmas Grotto at Selfridges. In a similar way to Harrods you can usually book your appointment with Santa in advance. Keep checking their website for details of prices etc. 

Southbank Christmas Market – Open at Christmas is Santa's Secret Village at the Southbank. This is a great event and is definitely worth a visit. Be prepared by wrapping up warm, as it can be quite chilly when queueing outside.

Hamleys - Santa can be seen roaming the huge toy shops at Christmas time and through most of December. There is likely to be the Hamleys Christmas Grotto again this year where you can meet Father Christmas. 

Westfield London - Santa's Wish Kingdom is a new addition to the Father Christmas activities in London for 2015. Check back at the website at a later date for 2015 information.


Did you know you can rent a Santa? You can arrange for them to come and surprise the family at your hotel or even at your table at a restaurant! 

 

Other Christmas Events for Children

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland 


When? 21st November 2015 to early January 2016

This event is now an annual tradition held at Hyde Park, London. It featuring exciting activities such as an Ice rink, Zippos Christmas Circus, Zippos Cirque Extreme, Giant Observation Wheel, Rides and Sand Land. There is so much fun to be had for both children (big or small) and adults alike.

 

The Enchanted Christmas House

When? 28th November
Where? London Art House, Islington, London 

This event is created especially for children aged 1 to 8. It includes a tour of the magical enchanted house, which featuring Christmas characters, the Garden of Winter Wonder, Santa's workshop, decorating yummy gingerbread in The Gingerbread Kitchen, and meeting Santa Claus himself. There is so much to try out, an unforgettable experience for all of the family, a must for this Christmas!

 


There are so many ways to get a taste of Christmas, and with so much happening in London, it may be the easiest place to do it! Try some of the ideas above or other events like the wide variety of Christmas Markets, Light Displays, Ice-skating Rinks, or book into a restaurant to get your fill of a tasty Christmas Dinner with the family!
