Officially Christmas In Barugh Green As Lights Get Switched On For The First Time In Village History

A Big Thank You To All!

Last Thursday we were proud to be supporting the Christmas Community Event in Barugh Green. The evening and Christmas Lights stemmed from a simple email to the council earlier in the year offering the donation of a few Christmas lamp post motifs to brighten up the village where UK Christmas World is based. Several months later and with support from the local Darton West Ward alliance (Councillor’s Linda Burgess, Alice Cave and Sharon Howard) we not only had 17 street lamp motifs but also a huge tree outside the local Primary School.

Town Christmas Street Lights

On Thursday 20th November after a dummy run and interview with BBC Radio Sheffield we were all set for the big switch on.

As the school children gathered around the huge tree Santa made a special appearance to help switch the lights and everyone joined in with a loud countdown. As Santa threw his magic dust into the area the lights shimmered all over the tree and street lamps began to light up on the surrounding roads around the school.

From the school we welcomed everyone to our Winter Wonderland where two real reindeers greeted visitors before getting the chance to spend more time talking to Santa and having festive balloons made by Bongo the Clown.

Hundred’s turned up to join in the event throughout the evening, enjoying mulled wine, mince pies and festive carols.

I would like to personally thank everyone who helped with the event and made the evening possible. Driving home through the village and seeing it lit up makes me extremely proud to not only be from the local area but to have my business based here.
