As the festive season draws in closer there are many things that get us feeling all Christmassy, whether it’s the chilly weather making us wrap up warm, festive scented candles, making your Christmas cake, dark nights or starting the Christmas shopping, for us here at UK Christmas World, we think it’s one of the nicest times of the year!

When Christmas comes around we all have our favourite traditions, things to do, the songs we play and movies we watch, in this blog we have shared some of these, do you agree, are these your favourites too? We have complied a list of what we think are the nation‘s top Christmas TV adverts, and a little bit about them!

  1. Coca Cola

A familiar advert to so many people, ‘you know it’s Christmas when you’ve seen the Coca Cola advert’ might be a phrase you’ve heard many times! This is probably one of the most iconic TV adverts at Christmas time, and has been since 1995 when it was first broadcasted. It features Coca Cola trucks with twinkling lights riding through a snowy landscape, you can even visit many venues up and down the country, and see the trucks for yourself in real life!

  1. John Lewis

John Lewis seem to be the masters of top Christmas adverts! In 2013 we saw the Bear and the Hare take to our TV screens and took the UK by storm. It is the delightful tale of Bear and his faithful friend Hare who gives his furry friend a Christmas to remember. Children and adults alike loved this advert, the full length advert is 2 minutes in total so is a lovely little story to get wrapped up in, perfect for bringing that Christmassy feeling!

It’s another great ad from John Lewis, this time in 2014. It is the tale of a young boy Sam and his best friend Monty the penguin, who dreams of only one thing for Christmas, love! Sam shows true friendship and gives a perfect Christmas gift. This heart-warming story was the perfect advert for both children and adults alike!

  1. Sainsbury’s

Made in partnership with the Royal British Legion it commemorates the extraordinary events that happened over 100 years ago during the First World War on Christmas Day 1914. Gun fire ceased and both armies met and exchanged gifts and even played football together. The full advert is over 3 minutes in length and is a tale that shows the true meaning of Christmas spirit.

  1. Marks & Spencer’s

M&S have televised many great Christmas ads over the year, showcasing their fantastic range of food, drink, clothes and gifts, but here is one great example from 2009. It stars many big celebrities such as Myleene Klass, Stephen Fry and Jennifer Saunders, and shows the best they have to offer at Christmas. We think that seeing all the yummy Christmas food on TV really puts us in the festive spirit, so this is a must see if you’re wanting to get all Christmassy!

  1. Debenhams

‘Found it’ was the title of the 2014 Christmas advert from Debenhams. It’s a magical video of children searching through a company store, all trimmed for Christmas, to find their fabulous Christmas. Featuring the Paul McCartney song ‘We All Stand Together’, it’s an advert that will make you smile!

  1. McVities

Here’s another great advert from December 2014, this time from McVities Victoria biscuits. It features a family sitting around on Christmas day, all a little sleepy and fed up, perhaps after a big Christmas dinner. Dad of the family reached over for the box of biscuits and out pops an army of cute baby animals! The family of course jump to life at the sight and pass the animals around. This is a really cute advert with a feel good vibe, guaranteed to put you in a happy festive mood!

  1. Tesco

Flash back to 2007 and you may remember the Tesco advert featuring the Spice Girls. You see them inside a Tesco store doing their Christmas shopping for each other but them almost bump into each of the band member doing the same thing! They then spend the advert trying not to be seen by the girls and hiding in a range of different bizarre ways. This is a fun advert for one of the UK’s biggest supermarket chains.
