Winter Weddings in Wonderful Winter Wonderland Settings

Although summer is the most popular time of the year to tie the knot, here at UK Christmas World we’ve an abundance of reasons to opt for a winter wonderland wedding.

The majority of weddings will have a colour scheme or a theme to which the wedding is centred around. Plain white colour schemes are stylish, simple and chic and co-ordinate well with the wintery environment. Winter weddings are also a perfect time to use strong palette colours to contrast against the white natural settings and can be easily teamed with gold or silver to add a festive element to your day.

Opting for a dress with a longer sleeve adds an elegant extra touch and will keep you a little warmer should the weather take a turn for the worse. However don’t feel you have to let the weather determine your dress, layering with faux fur shawls and coloured pashminas are practical accessorises for you and your bridesmaids to keep warm this winter, especially for any outdoor snowy photographs. If you have selected longer, full length dresses this will enable you to disguise any practical winter footwear, so leave your heels at home.

Bring the outdoors inside by featuring pine and fir cones in table centre pieces, they will provide an inexpensive focal point and can be sprayed to add colour or glitter. Foliage can be used to create a classic winter setting without the price tag, if you’re prepared to do a little foraging. Adding plastic berries and battery lights can transform the garlands into something special to decorate your venue. Candles, flameless candles and warm white fairy lights will ensure your venue has a warm wintery glow and create a cosy ambience.

Getting married around the Christmas period could be a real money saver as venues tend to be cheaper and people have more time off work. During the festive season families are happier and more family orientated as they look forward to the seasonal festivities. Serving hot chocolate, mulled wine or egg nog at your wedding reception will go down a treat!

Wedding favours can be costly and time consuming, why not bake a few batches of mini mince pies and cling film them to create a quick and easy alternative. Everyone loves a mince pie, especially at Christmas

The wedding cake is one of the most important elements of the day, the average cost being around £300. However if you opt for a fruit cake, traditional for the time of year, this can be baked earlier in the year when you have more time, then given to a cake maker who will be able to decorate the cake, saving you on the total cost. If you’re not a fan of the fruit cake, pork pie wedding cakes are becoming more popular and once cut it can be served with peas and gravy for the wedding breakfast or a snack during the evening party.

Winter weddings can be a beautiful wonderland and if they’re good enough for Amanda Holden and Tom cruise then they’re good enough for us.
