20 Christmas Songs we Couldn't Live Without - Part Two

Earlier in the month we left you with the first half of our top twenty favourite Christmas songs of all time. Today we are pleased to announce that we have brought to you the second half of our list; it wasn’t easy to select the top 10 out of our twenty, but here they are.

#10: Merry Xmas Everybody – Slade

This song is very well known and will often get the adrenaline pumping in those looking forward to celebrating Christmas. If you’re looking for motivation to begin the wrapping of your presents this is one of the song that will help you out the most.

#9: Santa Baby – Michael Bublé

Although Michael Bublé is not very well known on the music scene his relaxed approach to making music and casual tones are spectacular and make for very easy listening. If you haven’t heard his version of Santa Baby I suggest that you go and purchase a copy right now!

#8: I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday – Wizzard

This is one of the most famous Christmas songs of the last few decades – if you haven’t got the time to go out and buy this song I would advise you to buy it online as you simply can’t be without a little Wizzard.

#7: Santa Clause is Coming to Town – Jackson 5

Another song from the Jackson 5; this song reminds us that it is almost time for Santa Clause to arrive and that he will only treat the good and well behaved children with presents.

#6: Driving Home for Christmas – Chris Rea

A very soothing song that describes the journey that most people will make to be with their loved ones during the Christmas period; if Chris Rea can’t get you into the festive spirit you may want to sit this one out.

#5: Let it Snow – Frank Sinatra

This is a very traditional tune that has been played for many generations. In this song Frank Sinatra expresses his passion for snow and how he does not wish for it to snow as it reminds him of Christmas.

#4: Fairytale of New York – The Pogues feat Kirsty MacCol

This particular song may not appear to be deep and meaningful but for the majority of families it will be of significant sentimental value – there is also a hidden message within this song about how people come together throughout the festive period even if they did not originally get along.

#3: Stop the Cavalry – Jonah Lewie

Although this song is not incredibly festive and doesn’t aid in lightening your mood or raising your spirits it does hold an important message. This song explains the longing that soldiers feel everywhere when they cannot come home for Christmas and how they wish that they could end the war in time to celebrate Christmas.

#2: It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas – Bing Crosby and Meredith Wilson

We’re almost there now! This is a song that we often save for the first snow as there’s nothing like waking up to a white Christmas!

#1: Do They Know it’s Christmas? – Band Aid 20

With so many different versions of this song to choose form it was incredibly difficult to pick the right one. Band Aid 20 includes some of the most amazing voices and founded by Bob Geldof to raise money for poverty stricken families in Ethiopia. I can’t think of any other song that deserves the #1 spot on our list, how can you say no to a song that was invented to help others?

There are many other Christmas songs that would have been appropriate for this list but these were the 20 that we felt the most strongly about. For more information on all things festive you can get in touch with us here at UK Christmas World.
