Christmas Time In Yorkshire

As the festive season is approaching you may be starting to think of activities you can plan for you and your family. We have scoured the web and complied this list of great attractions in the Yorkshire area that people of all ages will enjoy! Book early into these events, if applicable, to avoid disappointment. We’re a fan of planning early here at UK Christmas World, so see if any of these days out takes your fancy!

 

Stockeld Park

Located in woodland about 30 minutes away from Leeds, York and Harrogate. Their Christmas Adventure opens October 21st and runs until 4th January. There is so much to enjoy such as Nordic skiing, a giant maze and ice skating. Santa will arrive from November in his magical Sleigh Parade and will be ready for visits to his log cabin in the enchanted forest! Special Christmas events include a Christmas at Hogwarts weekend, the wonderful 3 Kings Camel Procession and even a Christmas pantomime. Stockeld Park also offer Christmas trees for sale. The Ice Factor

Returning to the York Designer Outlet again this year is the magical festive experience – Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland. Featured at the event will be ice skating, an après-skate café bar, traditional funfair, wooden cabins with festive winter scenes as well as great quality shopping at the outlet of course! It is open from 21st November and runs until 3rd January, this is very popular so it is advised that skating especially is booked in advance. Butterfly House

A classic family event is to be held at the Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry centre this Christmas with Santa, Elves and Sleigh Bells! Hop on a magical sleigh ride to meet Father Christmas in his Enchanted Grotto. There will be a nativity scene in the cosy stables where you can get to meet some friendly wildlife too! There will be a pantomime style free-flying bird show featuring many birds of prey, an elf workshop for Christmas crafts and activities and enjoy some yummy festive food in the Butterfly Café. This event is booking now, so get in there fast to avoid disappointment!

 

Snozone – Xscape

Seeking some snowy festive family fun this Christmas? Then the Snozone at Xscape, Castleford is the place to be. Their 170m long slope is perfect for winter sports including skiing and snowboarding, there are also fun family activities to enjoy together such as sledging and ice sliding. There is even a learner slope if you require a few lessons before hitting the main slope! Whichever activity you choose, you’re bound to have tonnes of wintry fun at Snozone! If snow sports aren’t for you, don’t worry, Xscape offer a huge range of other activities that you can enjoy as a family such as The Raid laser game, Gravity Trampoline Park,  Cineworld cinema, climbing walls, 4D golf, bowling lanes, a skate park and Xplore soft play centre. You’ll be spoilt for choice!

 

Castle Howard, York

There are many great activities planned for Christmas as Castle Howard, and guaranteed to be lots to see and do! You can enjoy a traditional Christmas visiting the house, which will be transformed with candles, garlands, wreaths and Christmas trees, glittering with lights, baubles and decorations. To add to the seasonal celebrations there will be live music and huge roaring fires to enjoy. Also why not pop in to the café and shops to pick up a tasty festive treat or something special to take home with you. Also returning this year will be the Audience with Father Christmas. Pre-book your child’s admission and they will receive a beautiful personalised invitation and on the day a wonderful present from Santa himself. Enter the Grecian Hall to see Santa telling stories, singing songs and there will even be magic tricks from his wizard friend WonderPhil! Of course there will also be opportunities for photographs, a lovely momentum from your magical day out!

 

Cannon Hall Farm

Probably the most local Christmas event to ourselves at UK Christmas World, Cannon Hall Farm have their fantastic Santa Experience open again this year. It is one of their most popular seasonal events and as the dates get nearer tickets sell out quickly, so be sure to book in early. Go and meet Santa and his reindeer in his magical grotto, take a tractor and trailer ride and enjoy a Christmas singalong with Rudolph and the elves. There is also the Santa’s breakfast to enjoy from 5th December until Christmas Eve. Included in the ticket price is a yummy farm shop breakfast, admission to the farm and indoor play area (see the website for all dates and ticket prices). Another great value festive event at Cannon Hall is the Santa’s Supper. This event again runs from 5th December to 23rd December, and the ticket price includes all day admission to the farm and indoor play area, Santa visit and gift for each child, tractor and trailer ride, and a delicious Christmas Dinner. Santa’s Supper includes roast turkey or beef dinner with all the trimmings (alternatives for children’s menu are also available). Chatsworth House

From the beginning of November to the beginning of January there are is so much festive fun to enjoy at Chatsworth Hall. Journey through the scenes of the much loved tale The Wind in the Willows, and share the adventures of all the characters including Mr Toad, Mole, Ratty and Badger as they celebrate Christmas at Toad Hall! As well as the Christmassy displays in the house to enjoy there will be nativity performances in the courtyard, floral demonstrations, Christmas markets and gourmet evenings – especially for adults.
