Top Christmas Holiday Destinations – Spend Your Christmas in the Sun!

Let’s face it, the weather over the festive period is generally rather miserable and chilly. You either love the winter or hate it! If it’s just not for you, you might be looking now at planning a getaway this Christmas in search for some winter sun. Here are a handful of destinations to inspire you…


Morocco
This is a prefect holiday choice if you’re looking for a taste of exotic but without travelling too far. Great displays of markets and crafts make it an excellent choice for children too as there is so much to see and learn about their culture. Visit a coastal destination such as Agadir where the beaches go on for miles, or choose a city escape like Marrakech where you can really get a taste of the Moroccan culture, surrounded by belly dancers vibrant markets and snake charmers! There really is something in Morocco to suit everyone’s taste.

Canary Islands
Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife are some of the most well-known and favourite Canary Islands, and have been one of Britain’s most popular destinations since the seventies. They are generally warm but can be breezy at times with a chance of showers during the winter months. This would be the perfect winter holiday if you’re not too keen on the baking heat. Whichever island you choose, beaches stretching for miles are guaranteed, meaning the Canary Islands are perfect for water sports and other classic beach activities. Take a trip to a water park, go whale watching or stretch your legs taking a walk around a traditional market, you’ll never get bored!

Florida
Florida is already known as one of the top holiday destinations for families, as there is so much to do. The famous vast theme parks are an obvious main attraction in Orlando, you can visit your favourite Disney characters and there is plenty of fun for the adrenaline junkies too! After you’re all tired out from exploring the theme parks, there are plenty of glorious beaches where you can wind down. There are endless ways to keep the family entertained this winter on the East Coast.

Egypt
With some of the popular destinations including Sharm El Sheikh, Cairo, Hurghada and El Gouna there are so many beautiful resorts to choose from. With tonnes to discover in this incredibly historical country you’ll be spoiled for choice on what to do first. The obvious attractions such as the Pyramids and the Valley of the Kings are a must, particularly for the children, it will bring their history lessons to life! There are also activities such as diving and snorkelling in the Coral Reef sites, sightseeing in other historical areas including temples, exciting nightlife and other cultural aspects to enjoy, or simply relaxing on the expansive beaches.

Cape Verde
Cape Verde is fast becoming one of the most popular beach holiday destinations, as it used to be a bit of a secret! Located off the west coast of Africa there are many gorgeous beaches to relax and unwind on taking in the beautiful scenery around, this meaning there are plenty of opportunities for water sports and other beach activities for the children. Get to know the local history and culture by exploring the museums and galleries on your holiday, get stuck into some traditional fishing or see more of the countryside and take a hike. Whatever you plan for your holiday itinerary, you won’t be struggling to find things to do!

Goa, India
If you’re looking for hot hot hot this winter then look no further! With 0mm of rainfall throughout the winter it is Goa’s dry season so is the perfect time to take a trip. There is so much to discover in all resorts in Goa whether you choose to base yourselves North or South of the area. There are endless cultural lessons to be learned, restaurants to taste the unique local cuisine, nightlife including a Saturday night market where you can grab yourself a bargain, stunning stretches of beaches where water sports are popular, and so much more! On the other hand Goa may not be the best holiday destination to take children, particularly young families as the flight is quite long, so travelling may turn out to be a struggle.

Barbados
This tiny island in the eastern Caribbean is a popular beach holiday hotspot with its tranquil beaches, rolling hills and quaint little villages. It’s a perfect holiday if you’re looking for a little peace and quiet. There are botanical gardens and caves to explore if you step a little further away from the seashore, but on the beach the waters are filled with marine life such as many types of fish and sea turtles making them perfect for divers and snorkelers. Another perfect destination if you’re looking for some real heat this winter, although December is in their wet season so some rain should be expected. One of the most picturesque places to visit and you can rely on the wonderful relaxed Caribbean lifestyle, the air filled with reggae music, there are even reggae buses that transport you to your excursions!
