It’s never too early to start preparing for Christmas.  Whether it’s putting a few pennies away every week to ease the financial burden or beginning to gather materials for the endless decorations; foresight is key to having a relaxing festive season.

Thankfully we’re finally coming round to considering the environment in most things we do.  A vast increase in recycling capabilities and eco-friendly packaging has seen a fantastic reduction in what heads to the landfill, but there are some things where we’re still a little behind.  National holidays seem to be one of these occasions, when people like to relax and consider nothing but their friends and family, a bottle of wine and having a good time.  One of the biggest guilty holidays is Christmas, when we all like to forget about the troubles of everybody outside of our festive circle.  It’s not that we’re being selfish, we just feel like we’ve deserved some alone time and don’t want to have to sacrifice that.  But having an eco-friendly December isn’t as obtrusive as most people think, a little forward thinking can make it all an enjoyable experience for both yourself, your family and the environment!

Christmas Around The World

The modern day Christmas in Britain is very different to what it was two or three hundred years ago. Whilst traditional festivities live on in new formats, the holiday has been changed dramatically with the commercial nature that has grown up beside it. But it’s not just Britain that has seen Christmas evolve and adapt to fit the way of life, Christmas around the world is celebrated in incredibly different ways.  Some countries still stick by the original rituals and origins of Christmas, whilst some have seen just as many changes as we have; but in a completely different way. 

Christmas Lights – LED or Filament?

The decision between which Christmas lights to buy for Christmas 2013 has always been a simple one; white or coloured?  With the introduction of LED to the festive lighting scene, the traditional filament or incandescent bulbs are being tested by this newcomer.  There’s a lot to weigh up when it comes to choosing between the two, below we’ve outlined the pros and cons of each bulb in their relative sectors.  You need to take into consideration the running costs, sustainability, power sockets and more!
